Then you might just be my new best friend…
Back in 2011 I went to an event to hear Gary Vee speak. They gave out HUSTLE shirts, it was awesome!
Except that I’m really not that into hustling…
I drank the koolaid. I tried my hand at it. But I kept coming up short, burning out, and never getting where I wanted to be anyway.
A better way to work
The #HUSTLE culture is all about brute force. Put in the time now, make the sacrifice now, and enjoy the results later. It sounds logical, but there’s a lot of sacrifice to get to the good part.
As a husband and a dad, that’s not a trade I’m willing to make.
Instead of squeezing more thigns into my already cramped day…
I’m all about finding ways to scale myself instead.
How can I accomplish more while doing less?Deacon
If I could do that, then I could build & scale my business (without sacrificing my family, my team, or my life).
The key areas I focus on
I’ve spent years studying and practicing how to scale a business. In fact, Tier 11 (I run the day-to-day Operations) recently reached no. 612 on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing privately held companies.
There’s a lesson I learned that will seriously LIMIT scale though – a lesson John Maxwell calls “the law of the lid.”
The biggest limitation to your business’s growth is actually YOU.Michael hyatt
I am what’s holding Tier 11’s scale back. I am the one who needs to grow in order for the busines to grow.
Here’s how I break down the areas I’m constantly focusign on to SCALE myself (and my business).
1. Personal Productivity
I hate the term productivity, but it most clearly communicates to the rest of the world what I’m talking about here. I prefer to call it Effectivity, because the whole intent is to increase my results, not just check off more boxes.
2. Teams & Leadership
Learning how to get results through others is perhaps the single biggest lever you can pull to take back control of your time (while also getting more done).
3. Self Care
There’s a good chance you take better care of your car than you do yourself. Think about that. I’m all about finding ways to give myself a tuneup, use better fuel, and take care of my engine so I can go as fast as I desire (and feel good doing it).
What about you?
I’m learning all these lessons as I go and sharing them both here and on Instagram. Join me, say hello, and let me know what’s worked for you (or what challenges you’re facing).
If there’s one thing I love more than anything, it’s finding ways to do more with less.
See you on the webs!
